The Data Innovation Summit

The diSummit (Data Innovation Summit) is a one-day corporate conference taking place each year in Brussels. It is organised by the Data Science Community of Belgium to reunite all players of the data science sector, to diffuse knowledge and share ideas. It is innovative pitches, exhibition booths, head hunting and networking, all in a humane atmosphere. It is open to professionals and students interested in the sector.

Date & Time

This year’s summit will take place on 27th June at ULB Campus Solbosch. Door open at 7:30 AM, first pitch starts at 8:45 AM. Last pitch is at 17:30 PM, doors close at 18:30 PM. There is a beer garden organised by DigitYser starting then.

There have been three previous renditions until present date, all sold out to 500+ participants. We have selected a bigger venue this year to accommodate more participants.

Conference Theme

This year’s conference theme is “A.I. Demystified”. People often have a negative “evil-robots-invading-humankind” idea of A.I., when unfamiliar with the technology. That image is absolutely fictional. As such, the diSummit is organised to change that perception by spreading up-to-date knowledge to the community. A.I. is a useful tool that can optimize specific elements of digitalisation. It is a powerful tool controlled by ordinary people, no more, no less. Through the Summit, the Data Science Community hopes to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, to keep all of its members aware of all the benefits and implications of the A.I. technology.

Call for Speakers – LT-Accelerate: 23-24 November 2015 in Brussels

Dear colleague,

Does your organization seek to make sense of social, online, and enterprise data? If so, the LT-Accelerate conference, taking place on 23-24 November 2015 in Brussels, is for you.

Please consider submitting a speaking proposal by 21 September 2015. With your participation — as a speaker, panelist, workshop presenter, or attendee — LT-Accelerate will be a great conference.

LT-Accelerate is designed to help businesses, researchers, and public administrations discover business value via language technologies. Our interests are: text, speech, social & big data analytics; natural language understanding, generation & interaction; online and social media, networks & insights.

This will be the second LT-Accelerate conference we are organising with industry analyst Seth Grimes of Alta Plana Corporation. You may be familiar with Seth’s Sentiment Analysis Symposium (15-16 July in New York). Together, with your participation, we will make LT-Accelerate an outstanding event where you will meet, learn from, and network with fellow business innovators, academic and industry thought leaders, solution providers, and consultants. LT-Accelerate is about opportunity, unique in Europe.

What sort of speakers are we seeking? (And who should attend, speaker or not?)

Whether you are a business visionary, experienced user, or technologist, please consider proposing a presentation or panel. Submit your proposal here.  Choose from among the suggested topics or surprise us. We invite speakers who will focus on customer experience, market research, media measurement, financial services, life sciences, security, or social listening and intelligence — on applications such as interaction and workforce analytics, digital analytics, social measurement and engagement, trading strategies, and survey analysis. Our program will extend to technologies for text and sentiment analysis, social network analysis, and big data. But don’t let this list limit you. We see opportunity in innovation!

Please do propose an LT-Accelerate presentation, workshop, or panel. If you have questions, contact me (coordinates below) or Seth Grimes at grimes@altaplana.com. And follow us on Twitter at @LTaccelerate for updates.

We hope to see you in Brussels in November!

Philippe Wacker, Secretary General at LT-Innovate
